Modernizing AM Consulting Engineers at Jennymount

At Desk Warehouse, we often say our evolution has taken us from a “Used Furniture Emporium” to a “Design-Focused Furniture Fitout Company.” There is no better example of this transformation than our recent project for AM Consulting Engineers.

We were tasked with outfitting their Jennymount Office in Belfast, creating a workspace that wasn’t just functional, but conducive to collaboration and modern engineering workflows.

The Vision

The brief was clear but demanding. We needed to accommodate 24 workstations while maintaining an open, airy feel, alongside dedicated breakout spaces and private offices.

Using our in-house design capabilities, we moved from initial concepts to detailed 3D visualizations. This allowed the client to “walk through” the space before a single screw was turned.

The Solution

Looking at the finished design, several key elements stand out:

• Open Plan Efficiency: We utilized modern cantilever desking systems with Grey Oak tops and steel legs. This keeps the office feeling bright and clean while adding a touch of warmth.
• Ergonomics First: Each workstation is equipped with high-performance mesh-back task chairs, ensuring the engineering team stays comfortable during long sessions.
• Defined Zones: We used storage units not just for filing, but as room dividers. This subtly separates the “Open Office” from the “Reception” area without building solid walls that block light.

From 3D to Reality

One of the most satisfying parts of my job as a designer is seeing the fidelity between our renders and the final result.

For AM Consulting, we ensured that the flow of the office—from the entrance, past the kitchen, through the open office, and into the private meeting rooms—felt natural. The layout (approx. 1:85 scale planning) was optimized to ensure no space was wasted, yet no one feels cramped.
